After a brief illness John, beloved and loving husband of Norah Elizabeth Mooney, passed away peacefully with Norah by his side.
John leaves behind his sister Nola (Murray), sister Elaine (Jim), and brother David. John was a loving step-father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by Josh (Megan), Sarah (Alex), Stuart (Tony), Iliana, Ian, Lochlan, Mara-Jade, and Finnegan. Also lovingly missed by his brother-in-laws, John (Andrea), Paul (Linda), Mike (Pam), Dan (Mary-Ellen), Pat (Joede), and his sister-in-law Maureen. John is pre-deceased by his father John Dawson Dines, his mother Annette Eugenie Dines, and his youngest brother Brian Dines.
John will be remembered with love and kindness by his many nieces, nephews and cousins in both the Dines and Mooney families.
He didn’t ask for much in life- only to be happy, to give and receive respect from his fellow human beings, and to enjoy each and every day. He was proud to be a third generation Yukoner, born in Dawson City.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday January 22, 2017 at 5:00pm at Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre. For more information please contact: Shannon at 336-0792 or Cheryl at 335-0182.

So sad to hear of Johnny’s passing. He was a friend of my brother Rollie and sister Cathie Innes-Taylor. I met my husband 38 years ago through an introduction from Johnny. I only heard of his passing through a friend today.
It is always a sad day when another true Yukoner is gone.

I’ve had the pleasure to float down the Yukon to Dawson with John. We were on an adventure to climb a mountain named after his Dad. He often danced around the campfires and at many of the local watering holes. Before computers, John knew the part numbers to most of the mining equipment in the Yukon. John had many colorful friends and stories. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by many.
