Born in Aalborg, Denmark on January 4, 1956, son to Niels and Gudrun Jensen, he immigrated to Canada in 1957. Mogens graduated from Harry Ainlay High School in Edmonton, Alberta in 1974. Following in his father’s footsteps as a carpenter he earned his journeyman certification in 1979. He worked on many projects throughout Alberta, British Columbia, NWT and the Yukon in the 1980s and early 90s, building high-rises, hotels, schools, homes – just about anything. He established M. Jensen Ventures Inc in 1990, specializing in custom homes, and moved to Whitehorse in 1994. With M. Jensen Ventures Inc, and as superintendent for Ketza Construction between 1994 and 2005, his legacy projects include the Arctic Winter Games Centre, Copper Ridge Care Facility, Ross River School, Yukon Electric Building, the Minto Mine Mill and several custom homes, to name a few. In 2006, together with business partner Larry Turner, he established Grey Wolf Builders Inc. Legacy projects with this venture are Crocus Glen housing development, the Mount Sima Ski Chalet, Golden Hall Fire Hall and many more. Mogens left us June 24, 2016. Predeceased by his father Niels Jensen and sister Margit Andersen, he is survived by his wife Valerie Jensen, mother Gudrun Jensen, sister Lis Densmore, children Corrigan, Regan, Taylor and MacKenzie; step-children David Stehelin and Kimberley Walchuk and six grandchildren. Mogens was a truly gentle man; a genuinely good person.
