A Death Is Near

A Death is Near

It can be so difficult to make that first call to a funeral home when yourself or a loved one is nearing the end of life. But if you can, contacting the funeral home to gather information and guidance for what happens after someone dies can give you greater peace of mind and help prepare you for the time to come.

When a death is expected at home or at a care facility, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to transfer a decedent into our care. If a death occurs at a hospital, we can wait until the next business day to transfer the decedent into our care as they have a morgue facility.

When an individual makes that “first call” to us, we will ask the following questions:

The name of the person who died.

The location where they died.

Your name.

The name and contact information for the legal next of kin.

The time we should arrive at the place of death to pick up the deceased.

The deceased’s wishes regarding burial or cremation.

We are always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
