Allison McNevin
Our brilliant ray of sunshine, love, and courage has left us. Long-time Yukoner Allison McNevin passed away suddenly at home in late May. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill Thompson, and her brother Ken McNevin. Left to mourn is her spouse Desmond Wren, daughter Ellen Thompson, sister Deborah McNevin, brother Malcolm McNevin, as well as members of her extended family and many dear friends and colleagues across the Yukon and Canada.

You’ve earned your rest, Auntie Allison. I’ll always regret not learning what an incredibly loving &selfless Auntie you were until it was barely too late. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You are beloved.

We will miss you Allison!!! We had hoped to come and see you and Des and Ellen one more time in the Yukon; unfortunately it was not meant to be. Rest peacefully sweet lady my biggest regret was that we didn’t have you come to live with us as you had asked. We can’t dwell on regrets I will plant more flowers for you this summer as we are having a butterfly year this year with swallowtails and meadow blues and even an tortoiseshell and a black admiral so far. I know how you loved the birds and bees and insects. Love to you Aunt Cilla and Uncle Peter

My condolences to her friends and family. I was fortunate enough to meet and work with Allison on the Alaska highway years back. She was always a barrel of laughs and set the bar high when it came to working hard. We helped build a lot of road together and years later I always asked her to help do my taxes and it was always pleasant to catch up with her on current things. Rest In Peace Allison, your bright smile and laugh will be missed

Dear Ellen, Des and loved ones, Allison was such a strong presence to all who knew her. She was so good to me when I visited the North and I was happy to return the hospitality when she visited us on PEI. Allison,Ellen, Richard, Kenny and I had such a great time visiting and exploring together and we were looking forward to another visit later this month. She was a bright light who loved the East so much. She will be in our hearts forever ❤️

Rest in Peace, Allison. Thank you so much for all of your help over the years. You were one of a kind. I still can’t believe that when I saw you last month that it would be the last time. Herb and I were truly heartbroken when we heard the news. To Ellen and Des, know that you are in our thoughts. May the love and kindness of family and friends help comfort you in your loss.

Sorry that you had to leave while still so young. I will always cherish the times we had. Not all the eighties were bad. Thank you for your dedication to working with Carcross/Tagish over the years. Till we see each other again

We still can’t believe that Allison is gone. We just sat in her sunlit office a few months ago cracking jokes and sharing stories while she punched numbers into her computer. But she was so much more than a wizard with numbers. She was kind and smart and generous to a fault and at the same time a straight shooter who didn’t hesitate to call a spade a spade. We always left her place with a smile and a hug and an armload of gifts. She was a true friend and will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to Ellen, Des and the family.
