James David Rumbolt

November 8, 2003 ~ March 17, 2021

James David Rumbolt

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our precious son James David Rumbolt on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at the age of 17 at Whitehorse, Yukon.

James will be missed everyday by his parents Tracey and Austin Rumbolt and his brother Benjamin. He will be deeply missed by his grandfather, David Rumbolt (Mary’s Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador). Also left with broken hearts are his girlfriend, Rori Williams, his Aunts and Uncles, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog Riley (‘Baby’).

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James and Dulcie Short and paternal grandmother Cecilia Rumbolt.

James was born in Whitehorse, Yukon on November 8, 2003.  He was a Newfoundlander at heart and felt a strong connection to his culture and his roots. James was always drawn to the water and often spoke about feeling calm when he was near it.  He loved being outside immensely.

James’ personal achievements that brought him great happiness was obtaining his driver’s license and becoming a certified Snowboard Instructor.  During the summers James loved mountain biking, scootering, skateboarding, and playing basketball and football for hours.  In the winters he was an avid snowboarder and loved being a snowboard Instructor at Mr. Sima.  As soon as the first snowfall James would bring all his snowboard gear out of the garage and put it in his bedroom to start getting ready for the season.

Those who knew James, even just a little, have lost a shining light.  James cared about people in the purest way. He loved his friends fiercely. He was a protector and an encourager.  His heart was huge and kind.  James was always up for a good time, a drive, a chat, a game of chess or a game of cards. He had the greatest laugh and the best smile. He is missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Cremation has taken place.  The family is planning a gathering fitting of James when COVID -19 restrictions permit.   James’ friends and family will be contacted directly or through social media when details are known.

James’ family is also working with Mt. Sima to create a memorial for James at the ski hill.  Anyone wanting more information or wanting to contribute to this memorial please email traceyrumbolt@hotmail.com for details.

Jamesy: We will miss you forever, we will love you forever and we will remember you forever.  Love Mom, Dad and Ben.
