Bryan Clayson

August 18, 1951 ~ October 11, 2016

Bryan Clayson

Bryan was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

Bryan was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan to Alan and Nell Clayson. He was the youngest of three children. After he left school he went to work for a roofing company in Swift Current.

He attended NAIT to get his Heavy Duty Mechanic certification and worked for Westcan Trucking for his apprenticeship. In 1980 Bryan started working for the City of Edmonton, Light Rail Transit. He retired from the LRT in April of 2008.

Bryan and Donna operated a hobby farm with cattle, chickens and horses. In addition they also took pride in a one acre garden. The farm provided them, family and friends with wonderful vegetables, jams, pickles, eggs, chickens and beef year round.

In 2008 Bryan and Donna moved to Whitehorse. Bryan was able to spend his time doing what he loved most and that was restoring old vehicles from the frame up. Friends were also comfortable to come to Bryan for their vehicle repairs and trusted his advice with their vehicle purchases.

Bryan was the heart of the Waterfront Trolley and the Copperbelt Railway and Mining Museum. In 2016 Bryan received the Yukon Historical and Museum Association’s Helen Couch Volunteer of the Year Award. He volunteered at the Transportation museum restoring a 1950’s Austin pickup. Bryan received a Volunteer Award from the Museum in 2016.

Bryan was a loving husband of 30 years to Donna, he was also an amazing father to Andrea Lukie (Keith) and Verena Ross (Gary Irving). Bryan was a proud grandfather to Krystal, Dustin, Jayden, Jesse, James and Jaxon; great grandfather to Shaan and Jay.

Bryan is survived by his brother Don Clayson (Wendy); sister Ann Clayson (Marjorie), and many extended family in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Bryan was predeceased by his father in 1956; his mother in 1992 and step father Bob Sim in 2010.

Celebration of Life will be held at the Yukon Transportation Museum, Friday, Oct 21 at 2:00 pm. Snacks will be provided.

In Lieu of flowers please contribute to the Bryan Clayson Memorial Fund. This is a mentorship and training fund established by the Miles Canyon Historic Railway Society in memory of Bryan who passed away suddenly October 11, 2016. Donation forms will be provided at the memorial.
