James McFadyen

June 27, 1956 ~ April 14, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of James McFadyen announce his peaceful passing, with family by his side, on April 14, 2021 in Whitehorse, Yukon, after battling cancer.

James was born on June 27,1956 in Durham, England. He studied at Marden High School in Cullercoats, England where he also spent formative years with his brother Neville living in a children’s home. In 1980, James, along with his wife Cathryn, and his two sons, Jamie and Paul, immigrated to Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with the support of his sister Carrol and family.  He worked in the transportation industry in Kitchener and Stratford, Ontario, for the majority of his career.

James moved to the Yukon with his son Paul and his family in 2013, where he spent his semi-retirement working at Canadian Tire in the Auto Department. He loved spending time with his family, going for drives in his sports cars, and golfing.

James is survived by his children Jamie Allen McFadyen and Paul William McFadyen (Tracy), grandchildren Alyssa, Ashley, Jamie, Benjamin, Jacob, and Matthew, siblings Carrol Sood (Gary), Neville McFadyen (Teresa), and Step-siblings, Sandra, Paul, Deborah & Jackie and Ronnie.

James will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Yukon Hospital Foundation, Yukoners’ Cancer Care Fund (https://www.gifttool.com/donations/Donate?ID=104&AID=551).

My dearest Jim, it is with a massive sadness that I say goodbye to you. I see you through my tears living our lives together from our young years to your final days. My heart breaks for me and our family who you have left behind. Your loss in our lives is great. I know that you have arrived in the comfort of Heaven and that you are at peace, living in Joy. I believe that you are looking down on us and walking beside us to try and comfort us in our grief. I love you and losing you will leave a huge gap in my life that I know will never be filled. I love you, Cathryn xxx
