Lorne G. Whittaker

March 1, 1946 ~ February 18, 2021

Lorne G. Whittaker

Our hearts, along with yours, and everyone’s who knew Lorne, are heavy. There is a hole that can only be filled with memories of good times.

For most of his life Lorne was a tour bus driver. This job took him throughout Canada and the United States. He met travellers from all over the world. This is how Doris and Lorne met. He picked her up with the bus at the Yukon Inn and the rest is history.

He also drove school busses and City Transit busses. His mechanic and painting skills took him to Whitehorse Motors. Some time was also spent working at The High Country Inn, Plantation Flowers & Gifts, and Pioneer Trailer Park to name a few.

Lorne loved helping others. He was always willing to lend a hand.

He was a long-time member of the Canadian Rangers. Recently, after retirement, he became more involved within the community with organizations such as, The Golden Age Society, Yukon Council of Aging, Klondike Snowmobile Association, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and Whitehorse Canadian Legion.

He loved playing indoor shuffleboard, riding motorcycles including cross country trips, hiking, Tai-Chi and walking.

We would like to thank the staff at Whitehorse General Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks go out to Dr. Ron Koltun for his attention and care over the years.

We Love you Lorne,

Sincerely from his family,

Wife Doris, son Randy (Tracy), daughter Katie(Jon) and granddaughter, Kendra.

In Ontario, sisters Sharon(Leo), Joyce(Cecil), Irene(John) and predeceased by siblings Ross and Florence and Mother, Gladys.

A Private Family service will be held at this time.

Doris, my heartfelt sympathy to you in your loss of that wonderful guy Lorne! I know you were very much a part of his long journey living with cancer and you both did your best. Don’t we know that God takes the good ones first. I hope the good years you shared will hold you in good stead as you start driving the road of life without him. ❤️
