Our Staff

Karla Jennings

I was born and raised in the Yukon and I am happy to call it home. I have been working at Heritage North Funeral Home since 2010. Since then, I have completed the apprenticeship program to become a licensed Funeral Director/ Embalmer/ Cremationist. I truly love my career and all aspects of the funeral industry. In my spare time my husband and I like to take advantage of the outdoor activities the Yukon has to offer.

Danielle Parks

I was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan, but my life was never short of adventures! I moved to the Yukon after my partner Greg decided to take a job in Whitehorse. We haven’t looked back since! I enjoy taking part in the arts, mainly drawing in my spare time. I have been with Heritage North Funeral Home since August of 2015 and continue to learn and grow. I completed my apprenticeship with the Canadian College of Funeral Service, receiving an award of excellence for Embalming. I am dual licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Chris & Holly Thompson

Holly and I moved to Whitehorse from Alberta in May of 1993. Like so many our intention was to stay a couple years before moving home to Ontario. We have raised our children, Nicole and Chris here, as the Yukon became our home. We have made many friends over the years who have really become more like family than friends. We have been blessed to live in this beautiful part of our country and call it home and we’ll always be Yukoner’s at heart.

Jennifer Groot

I grew up on a farm in Alberta and then spent many years exploring the world. After living in several different Canadian cities, a visit to the Yukon in 1995 turned into a permanent move. I met and married my husband Theo here, and the Yukon is where our hearth and our hearts lie. We go out into the wild when we can for hiking, canoeing, skiing and camping. I have been with Heritage North Funeral Home since 2006 and I continue to find my work deeply rewarding.

Rahel Neil

I grew up in a small village in the Swiss Alps. My world traveler’s heart found a home in Canada where I met and fell in love with my husband. Together, we built a home and a family, eventually settling in Whitehorse. Our family loves to spend time outdoors exploring the Yukon and we can’t think of a better place to raise our three children. I have been with Heritage North since 2019 and began my apprenticeship to become a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the fall of 2020. I am fortunate to have found my professional calling and consider it a privilege to serve my community in this way.

Sam Gallagher

I was born and raised in New Brunswick and moved to Yukon with my family in December of 2000. I have been with Heritage North Funeral Home since January of 2017. I am a certified cremationist and funeral home assistant. I take great pride in serving my community in this capacity. When not at work, I enjoy playing music and partaking in outdoor activities such as river trips, camping and hiking.
