Great loss for the family and community. I have great memories of Shelagh. Every time we went to Whitehorse to visit her family she would treat me as one of her own. Some great memories were made in my life because of her.

Shelagh and I raised our children together for several years, being neighbours on Bronx Ave. in Winnipeg. We became great friends, and I will keep her in my heart forever. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend, and will surely be missed.

My family and I first met the Pollack family when we moved to Whitehorse in 1981, our families became close. We hadn’t been in contact with each other very much since we left Whitehorse, but the memories were always there. Shelagh was my friend and confidante, she was a wonderful, funny, caring lady.
Rest In Peace Shelagh. Our Deepest Condolences to all the family.
Ann & Terry Rafferty.

Shelagh was the youngest of three sisters born to Richard & Maude Smith, in Winnipeg. Margaret, Josie and Shelagh were three wonderful, strong, vibrant women who, in their own quiet ways, made a difference in the world. First in their children, all grown now to maturity and strength in themselves. Second in the circles of friends and others who came to know and appreciate them. They were loving, honest, giving women. They are all together now and although we will miss them greatly, we are better persons for their influence in our lives. They blessed us in so many ways. We will never forget them as they will always have a warm, loving place in our hearts. Shelagh and Margaret were cherished friends, Josie my beloved wife of 31 years. Hal Studholme

It is with profound sadness that I extend my condolences to Uncle Joe, Andy, Jill and Carolyn on the loss of a wonderful wife, mother and Aunt. Shelagh was the youngest sister of my mother, Margaret Whelan but to me she was always Auntie Sheesh. She was a colourful and adventurous aunt who spoiled as children with gifts brought back from her exotic vacations when she was a single woman. Her visits over the years to see my Mum were always delightful, interesting and eagerly awaited. I always admired her spirit and interest in family and friends alike. She was a delightful woman. My thoughts will continue to be the family. Love Maureen ( Whelan) Fazzari

From the time our little dachsund, Pretzel, brought our families together, Shelagh has been a true friend. Even though we did not see each other often, the time apart always melted away. Love and comfort sent to all of you .

Jill we are so sorry to hear that your mom has passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My dear family – my thoughts are always with you but especially today. Shelagh was more a sister to me than a sister-in-law.
Her visits to the Calgary family were always such fun and very endearing to me especially in recent times. She once gifted me with one of her wonderful quilts which will remain in this branch of the family as an heirloom accompanied by lots of stories and fun. She truly was a very special person and a great gal! She will be greatly missed by us all

Our condolences and thoughts are with you, Joe, and your family at this difficult time. Shelagh was cousin and mostly a great friend to me. She had a great influence on my life at different times. We had fun times together as children, then traveled together. Love Norm and Pat

Shelagh was a valued colleague, one of the bright spots in the office. I could always count on her efficiency and professionalism plus she had the best sense of humour. She seemed unflappable, and in all my memories she has a smile and often a twinkle in her eye. I will remember her to the end of my days. My condolences to Joe, Jill, Carolyn, and Andy. I’m four years late – trust by now some of the pain of her loss has subsided.
