Shirley Ann (Jackson) Clark
Shirley was born and raised in the Yukon, which became her lifelong home. She loved the people and the beauty of the north.
To those who knew her, Shirley will be remembered as a loving parent and grandparent, and a loyal and honest friend and co-worker. She was a solid person, and utterly without pretense.
Her career was spent serving the people of the Yukon as a public servant with the Government of the Yukon – many years in both Health Services and Community Services.
Shirley loved to travel to explore the cultures of faraway places. She was also a member of Girl Guides of Canada for many years. After her retirement, she was able to combine both activities, and among her many travels visited the four international Guiding friendship centres.
She is survived by sons Brian and Colin and grandchildren Jasmyn, Dominique and Aiden and step-grandchildren Sydnee and Alex.
Shirley’s battle with cancer ended the evening of February 24, 2020. Never one to seek the spotlight, Shirley requested there be no public memorial. Condolences to the family may be shared below . Her family wishes to thank Dr. Robin Jamieson and Dr. Danusia Kanachowski for the care and support provided to Shirley during her journey. The home care nursing team of Chris, Nicole, Kyah, Richelle, and Holly were amazing – their compassion made a world of difference at a difficult time and was much appreciated.

I enjoyed working with Shirley over many years at the Yukon Government. She was a thoughtful person, and very professional in her work. I remember Shirley’s generous smile and sense of humor, also. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Shirley and me shared a room at all the Senior games she went to. Many nights we were up all night talking, playing scrabble and looking for food. She was a Gold medal winner and joined our scrabble group in Whitehorse. We had a social life outside of scrabble, the 3 of us, carol, Shirley and me having supper together, a potluck..there are just no words for how much I will miss her..she loved her life, she loved her family, she loved her friends. Rest In Peace my dear friend..we will no doubt meet up again..

Shirley was a great wise friend. She was an awesome Scrabble player. We travelled to the Canadian Senior Games and she won gold in her division for the Yukon. She was always so gracious and loved to tell stories of her children and grandchildren who were her life. I learned a lot from Shirley and will miss her. Our Scrabble games will not be the same.
My condolences to her family and friends. I am so happy for her that they were there with her to make her last days memorable and precious, surrounded with love.

I had the amazing honor of meeting Shirley, through my brother. She had the most beautiful face and personality. I could listen to her soothing voice for hours. Shirley had a way of leaving such a calmness wherever she was, and she possessed such an easy smile. Though I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing her for a long time, she left a sweet impression. Her radiance will be greatly missed by all who met her. My love and prayers are with her family and dear friends. She will brighten a new world now.
