Werner Liebau died unexpectedly on January 12, 2017 in Whitehorse, Yukon at the age of 64.
After leaving Germany in 1980 Werner first traveled the world before settling down in Whitehorse. Werner married Dagmar in 1987 and the couple raised three children and have greatly enjoyed the company of their five grandchildren, who referred to Werner lovingly as ‘Opi’.
Werner attended Yukon College followed by the Royal Roads University where he completed his Masters in Environmental Science in 2010. Werner worked as an Environment Officer for the Government of Canada for more than 15 years, and dedicated his career to bettering the Yukon.
Werner is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Dagmar; his children and their spouses; his brothers; his grandchildren; his extended family and his many colleagues and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on February 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lorne Mountain Community Centre. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Werner’s life. Refreshments will be served;
