Sherry Ann Sorg (née Gordon)
With immense heartbreak, we announce the passing of Sherry Ann Sorg.
Sherry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Chris Sorg (Sept. 2022), and leaves behind her loving children Brandon (Christine) and Emily (Leo); cherished grandchildren Vada, Crosby, Edison, Tavia, and Keenan; stepchildren Sean (Carly) and Kynna (Brad); sisters Kathy (Steve) and Karen (John); nieces Melissa and Paige, nephew Colton, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Born in Victoria, British Columbia, and raised in Sidney, Sherry married Ross Lindley in 1980. Together, they moved north to Dawson City, where Sherry worked at the Dawson City General Store and quickly became known for her warm smile and friendly spirit. Though Sherry and Ross later went their separate ways, they remained connected through their children, Brandon and Emily.
In the years that followed, Sherry met her life partner and later husband, Chris Sorg. Together they built a beautiful life rich with love and adventure. In Dawson City, they operated Maximillian’s Gold Rush Emporium, and after moving to Whitehorse in 1995, they owned and ran several beloved downtown shops, including Murdoch’s Gem Shop and Mac’s Fireweed Books on Main, as well as Maximillian’s Gold Rush Emporium in Porter Creek which was a community favorite during it’s time. Sherry was the friendly face and heart of each business—always welcoming customers with warmth, laughter, and a genuine interest in their stories. She took great pride in her work and had an incredible eye for curating treasures that brought joy to others.
Sherry’s passions ran deep and true. She was an enthusiastic gardener who could transform any patch of ground into a lush oasis of flowers and vegetables. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes, often “dehydrating everything under the sun.” Sherry also adored traveling the world with Chris, collecting seashells on the beaches of Sanibel Island in Florida, and sharing countless adventures together.
Most of all, Sherry’s greatest joy was found in her family – especially in being “Grandma.” She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, filling their lives with laughter, love, and homemade treats, and always making sure they knew how deeply they were loved.
Sherry’s heart, kindness, and generosity will be remembered and missed beyond measure by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2026, at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre Multipurpose Room starting at 10am.
