David Gordon Brown

April 22, 1965 ~ August 30, 2025

David Gordon Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Brown of Whitehorse, Yukon, in an accident on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 60 years of age.

Dave was a good man, a very generous man, with a great sense of humour and a fun-loving zest for life. Dave belonged to the Northern Collective Church; his faith was a guiding light in his life. He had a great love for the Yukon outdoors – camping, quadding, sledding, and especially fishing. He was an extremely loving father, a dedicated son, and a loyal friend and brother. He will be sorely missed by many.

Dave was born on April 22, 1965, to Eric and Donna Brown in Calgary, Alberta. Dave was predeceased by his baby brother Scott.

Dave was a dedicated, loving father to his two daughters, Courtney and Allison, of Whitehorse, YT, and will be lovingly missed by them. Dave is survived by his father, Eric (Sharron) Brown of Cowichan Bay, BC; mother, Donna Brown of Swift Current, SK; sisters Brenda (Dean) Fleury, Wanda (Dwayne) Levac, and Debbie (Davyn) Longmore, all of Swift Current, SK; as well as brother Gary (Inge) Brown of Whitehorse, YT. Dave also leaves behind 17 nieces and 11 nephews and many, many friends and coworkers.

A celebration of life for David will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 on the 3rd floor of the MacBride Museum at 2:00 PM.

Some of my favourite stories are Wanda and Deb’s ‘my brother Dave’ stories. Always full of adventure, laughter and good hearted deeds . My heart breaks for you all. It was an honour to know him.

It was with great sadness in hearing the news of Dave’s passing.
I met Dave some 46 years ago, this via his brother Gary, a good High School friend.
I remember learning how to drive a car in their acreage fields, in an old station wagon.

My deepest condolences to the Brown Family
    Rest in peace Dave

To the Brown Family. So sorry for your loss. Everyone who came in contact with Dave, would gladly smile with him as it was contagious. He always took the time to listen, share what was on his mind. He would always help, or just sit and talk to you. ( and he was quite a chatter box lol ).He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. But I guess he can now take time off work ( As he was always working or had to do something ). He now can be at peace on his adventures in his journey in heaven. Miss you very much bud, Kelly 🙂

So close to having a coffee appointment last time up in Whitehorse was looking forward to his smile and humor. Never knew who was older or younger… you guys to me were always the Brown boys… No not the Mrs Brown Boys!! Even though worlds weren’t connected now they were at one time that memories will always be held!

I always enjoyed when my shift crossed over with Dave, even though that often meant I stayed later than I should catching up. Dave always walked into work with a smile, hearty, “How ya’ doin,?” and often a story to share.

Dave was no stranger to hard work & it was not uncommon that he would join me if I was shovelling snow from the rink or yard. Sometimes he jumped into it without grabbing gloves or a toque. If I suggested he get some, he would wave me off. “No, no, Tara, if we keep moving we’ll be done in, what 10 min? I’ll be good.”.

Sometimes I got to share a good sermon or podcast with him. As long as he knew how to connect it, to his most recent vehicle, he would listen on his drives out to his post run and then he might talk to his mom about it on the way back when “it was a good one”.

He spoke fondly of his family: his fishing trips with his dad and brother; his mom and the courses she was taking (or had taken) at Briercrest; his sisters and the update on what all was happening in Swift; his daughters and their latest job, road trip, hockey game, or driving lesson.

I will miss Dave while I am here. One day in heaven I look forward to seeing Dave’s characteristic walk & his big bright smile. I’ll note the exuberance in his voice as he catches me up on what adventures he has had since we last talked.

Thank you so much Tara-One of the things I miss most is our phone visits on his way back from his run. He took a big piece of my heart but we will be together for all eternity.
