Gloria Jean Schilling (Nee Gallinger)

It is with great sadness that the family of Gloria Jean Schilling announce her passing into the arms of the Lord on January 8, 2026, at the Wind River Hospice Facility at the age of 68.

 

She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Dolores (Chris), Doreen (Paul), Darcy (Jolene), Lori (Shawn), Shane (Christy); children: Curtis (Julie), Gary (Serena), Chantal (Joe), Terry (Teara), Jeannena (Amadeo), Devon (Bre-Anna), and Arron; and grandchildren Kelsey, Brayden, Kara, Haylie, Hannah, Andrew, Caileigh, Liam, Ashton, Amanda, Cassiel, Allie, Skyla, Nathanial, Kristian, Izayah, Nailah, Michele, Asher, Noah, Zavier, Elijah, and Josiah; and great-grandchildren Jeremiah and Desiree.

 

She will also be dearly missed by her extended families of the Gallingers, McKones, Smiths, Schillings, and Beavans, as well as the many co-workers that she worked with at Copper Ridge Place, Whistlebend Place, and Thomson Centre.

 

Gloria was predeceased by her parents Evelyn Neufeld and Armond Gallinger, and her brother George Gallinger.

 

Since moving to Whitehorse in 2005, Gloria worked at Subway for a few years from 2005 to 2007 before deciding to go back to school to become a Nursing Home Attendant (NHA). After graduating at Yukon College in 2011, Gloria started working for YTG in the continuing care facilities as a NHA. Gloria worked for 7 years in several facilities as a casual NHA including Thomson Centre, Whistle Bend Place, Copper Ridge Place.  She also worked as a casual NHA in the Hospital for 4 months while working casual in Copper Ridge Place.  Gloria applied and accepted a permanent NHA position in Copper Ridge Place and worked there until December 10, 2025.  In all, Gloria enjoyed her final career as a NHA for 14 years and had to retire due to her declining health.   Gloria was known for her hard work and her love of the residents. She was always putting in referrals to help better the lives of the people she cared for.

 

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Wind River Hospice for their care and comfort of Gloria and her family.
