Jack Jim
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jack Jim, beloved husband of 51 years, father & grandfather. Jack was born in Whitehorse, raised on Whisky Flats, was a residential school survivor, and over-comer who went on to vocational school at 18 years old and became one of the best welders the Yukon ever had.
Jack will be missed by his wife, Inez; daughters, Michelle (Micah) Olesh, Nicole (Reuben) Nielsen; grandkids, Eva, Landen, Leo & Lilah each of whom he loved immensely and who brought him great joy; his sisters, Verna & Maisie; niece, Bernée (Blake); great-nephew, Max & great-niece, Charlotte; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and close friends who loved him.
Jack is predeceased by his dad, Scotty Jim; mother, Minnie Smith; stepfather, Borden Smith; sister, Rose; brothers, Robert, Edward & Danny.
He will be missed by so many relatives & friends alike. Many fond memories of Jack will remain with all who knew him, be it through fishing, hunting, camping, Camp Yukon, workplaces, or even visiting with him at Tim Hortons, “the office”, over a cup of coffee.
Thank you to the staff at the Thomson Centre and Donjek River House at Whistle Bend Place for the great care you gave Jack and our family; Dr. Mayes, Dr. Blaker, Dr. Matchett and the nurses who were there for him through his health journey to the end.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany Church, Whitehorse, on October 25th at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Yukon.
