Laurel Dea Hrebien

October 30, 1955 ~ December 13, 2025

Laurel Dea Hrebien

Laurel Dea Hrebien, beloved wife of Harry Hrebien, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 70. Dea was the oldest of seven children, born to Colleen and Larry LeCheminant on October 30, 1955, in Ashton, Idaho.

In 1972, when she was 16, her family moved from Idaho to Whitehorse, Yukon, where she met the love of her life, Harry. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Cardston Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 13, 1974.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children as a mother who was compassionate, patient, and kind. Dea was incredibly talented—over her lifetime she explored many forms of art, with quilting and sewing being two of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially spending time with her sisters. She was full of love and compassion and considered her children and grandchildren her greatest blessings.

Dea is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Harry; her six children: Shelley Hrebien, Michael (Rachel) Hrebien, Amy Hrebien, Amanda (Ken) Smith, Sariah (Josh) O’Brien, and Robert Hrebien; her ten grandchildren: Cadence, Dominic, Travis, Emersyn, Lukas, McKenna, Emily, Grayson, Clara, and Sophie; as well as her six younger siblings: RaeLynne, Brian, Ellen, Suzan, Victor, and Peter, and their families.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Dea in May of 2026.

Dea was always compassionate, patient and kind. Absolutely. I would add that she had the remarkable ability to sound on the phone that there was never anything challenging going on in her life. Or if there was, the giveaway was the word “interesting”. We will meet again someday, Dear Dea!
