Marin Elizabeth Pitt

July 18, 1991 ~ June 22, 2025

Marin Elizabeth Pitt

Our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Marin Elizabeth Pitt, tragically passed away in a river accident on June 22, 2025 in Yukon Territory, Canada, near Dalton Post. She was doing what she loved best when she suddenly departed this life.

Marin was born on July 18, 1991 in Provo, Utah. She grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Timpanogos High School and then from Utah Valley University with a degree in Emergency Services. She was employed in Utah, Montana and Idaho in various paramedic services including hospital emergency rooms and ambulance services. She loved to help people, and she loved people. She was full of service, compassion and adventure.

Marin loved the outdoors, nature, and the people she found there. She loved rafting, skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, canyoneering and anything else with an adventure and a good view of nature. Marin was a long-time river guide, a trained paramedic, and a beloved member of the outdoor community whose life was rooted in service, compassion, and adventure. She worked Lochsa River, Main Salmon River, Alberton Gorge, Blackfoot River, and different sections of the Clark Fork River. Her favorite river, not for work, but for adventure, was the Grand Canyon. She also led her friends on rafting trips on the Rogue, Green, San Juan, and Snake Rivers, and many sections of the Colorado River. She died on the Blanchard River, a tributary to the Tatshenshini River in Yukon, doing what she loved with the people that she loved.

Marin left behind her parents, William and Stacee Pitt, siblings Bryan (Jessica) Pitt, Lauren Sessions (BJ Titchenal), Jessianne (Skyelr) Baird, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Margaret Pitt and Howard and Deanna Reed.

She was such a kind and loving person. She accepted all she met as they were. She shared her light and joy with others freely and unconditionally. Marin gave so much of herself to the world around her. Whether she was navigating whitewater, caring for patients, or showing up for a friend in need, she did it all with empathy, humor, and courage. Marin was one of a kind. Such an incredible person with so much love to give. She taught so many others how to be a better guide and an even better person.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Big Springs Park in the South Fork area of Provo Canyon on July 7, 2025, starting at 4:00 pm.  All are invited.

A memorial website is set up at www.mykeeper.com/MarinPitt.
