Barbara Waugh

In Loving Memory of Barbara Waugh

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Waugh on July 10, 2026, at the age of 60. Barb passed away peacefully at Wind River Hospice, surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with brain cancer.

Barb was born on February 22, 1966, in Whitehorse, Yukon, to John Waugh and Sylvia Waugh (née Burke). She grew up in Crestview alongside her brothers and sister.

In 1993, she welcomed her first daughter, Haley, and in 1994, her second daughter, Caitlyn.

Barb took great pride in her career in health care, beginning at Macaulay Lodge. Following a workplace accident that resulted in a back injury, she was no longer able to continue nursing. Her passion for helping others led her to Health and Social Services with the Yukon Government, where she dedicated the remainder of her career until her retirement.

Barb was compassionate, loving, and caring. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved with her whole heart. She adored her dogs, enjoyed mojitos and Long Island iced teas, loved swimming in a cold lake, relaxing on a hot sandy beach, and, above all, she loved to laugh.

She will be dearly missed by her brothers, John (Grady) and Bruce; her sister, Michele (Darrell); her daughters, Haley (Clayton) and Caitlyn; her mother-in-law, Pam Philipsen; her brothers-in-law, Drew and JJ; and her beloved partner of 40 years, Patrick.

She will also be deeply missed by her many friends, colleagues, and extended family.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, John and Sylvia Waugh, and her father-in-law, Andy Philipsen.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at VGH, BC Cancer, WGH, and Wind River Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
