David George Cooper
On February 11, 2017, David George Cooper formerly of Watson Lake, Yukon passed away at Copper Ridge Place Nursing Home in Whitehorse, Yukon at the age of 68 years. Dave leaves behind to mourn numerous friends and family across Canada.
Dave was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He joined the army at age 17 and after training in Shilo, Manitoba was posted in Germany for 3 years. Throughout his life, Dave lived in various places including Winnipeg, Powell River, Calgary, Ocean Falls, Mould Bay, Edmonton and Cassiar. He moved to Watson Lake, Yukon around the year 2000 and enjoyed being a part of that community where he made many good friends.
Although a mechanic by trade, Dave took up woodworking in his latter years and built this scale model of the Bluenose II. He made all of the parts needed to encompass the details of the ship. In 2015, he donated it to the Watson Lake Library for display.
Thank you to the staff of Watson Lake Hospital for his care over the past year and to the staff at Copper Ridge for their care during his brief stay with them.
A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
