Don Gillespie
Don passed away suddenly on January 16, 2020 in Whitehorse after a valiant battle against cancer. Loving son of Doreen Gillespie, loving brother of Lori Parnell (Jeff), Kerry Timmermans (Pete) and Lisa Gillespie. Loving uncle of Emerald and Robyn of Whitehorse, and Jen, Justin, Adam, Rob, Kevin & Carly of Ennismore. Predeceased by his brother Rob and father Robert. Donnie always made his presence known no matter where he was. He was an avid Rolling Stones fan and loved music of all kinds as long as it was loud. He was a legendary mechanic and a gadget guy, the more complicated the better. So complicated even he had trouble using them. Never replicated or forgotten will be his middle of the night calls from the Yukon. Donnie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gone too soon.
Extra special thanks to Russell Griffiths who went above and beyond to support Don and brought him a Starbucks every single morning at 6am. Thanks to Trav and Chelsea for all the home cooked dinners and for hosting Don’s Celebration of Life. Thanks to all the friends that cut his wood and stoked his woodstove, played him music, and to the friends and family out East that answered all his late night calls on Facetime. Thank you Dr. Morash, Dr. Kmet, and Dr. Jamieson, and all the nurses (especially Karen Gilbert!) for the care and patience you had for Don, and for permitting the F bombs and dropping your own.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Don on Thursday February 4, 2020 from 630pm -2am at Whiskey Jack’s Pub & Grill

Donny, buddy. We sure effin laughed our asses off and I shook my head and grinned many times while in your presence. Your smile is imedded in me, the way you cross your leggs and take a drag off your fag! I will never forget you! Your name is a staple in my life. My kids love you and so does Gracie’s car! We will laugh on and remember how fast your car is!!

I just learned today that Donny passed so apologies for the late post. My deepest condolences to the Gillespie family. Donny was truly a unique, caring, brilliant and charismatic man. I remember his earliest visits with my brothers always filled with so much fun and laughter; and just last summer bumping into Donny again so much fun and laughter, such a great person. He will be deeply missed. RIP <3
