Gordon Phillip Simpson
Gordon was born in Whitehorse, Yukon, the 3rd oldest of four children born to Jack Simpson Sr. and Maybelle “Doe” Simpson (Wing).
He spent the majority of his life in the Yukon. In his younger years, Gordon loved sports of all kinds, but hockey in particular, where he and Jack were coached by their father, Jack Sr. Throughout his life, he loved the outdoors and had many “adventures” hunting, fishing and camping.
Gordon’s working life took him to Alaska, most of western Canada and the far north as a heavy equipment operator.
Gordon’s battle with cancer ended peacefully with his son Kalsey at his side.
Gordon is survived by his 5 Children; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his beloved father, Jack Sr.; Mother, Doe; brother, Jack Jr.; and stepfather, Bob Cameron.
A special thank you to the staff at Four Winds Hospice and Dr. Van Camp for the care and kindness they provided to Gordon.
Gordon’s son Kalsey and his sisters Patsy and Sharman invite you to the Shipyards Park Gazebo Firepit on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
We will have a BBQ and share memories in honour of Gordon’s and his brother Jack’s life. Jack died in Kamloops, B.C. in 2020.

I am sorry to see my childhood friend has passed. We were childhood friends when I lived in Whitehorse. I moved away in 1968 or so to Vancouver. He contacted me in 1981 or 82 when he and his family came to Vancouver but our timing didn’t work out. I often think of my childhood times with him and the fun we had. It wasn’t until now, while planning a trip to Whitehorse that I found out about his passing. My regrets go out to his family. I will continue to remember him fondly and will be thinking of him and us playing together when I come up there in September. See you old friend. Love you.
