Harry Kulych

March 05, 1937 ~ March 08, 2024

Harry Kulych

His work here is complete. On March 8th Harry received a call with an offer he couldn’t refuse, and while he won’t be returning, it came with a great bonus.  He will be reunited with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.

Harry was born and raised in Alberta and was the youngest of six children. He married the love of his life Angie Jankow in 1957 and they had four children, Dale, Ron, Vickie and Tammy. In 1966 Harry’s trucking career brought the family north and Yukon became home and the place where three generations of Kulych’s would build lives in the land of the Midnight Sun.

Harry and Angie’s best years were spent being Baba and Dido to eight rambunctious and wildly different grandchildren, Natasha, Landon, Kaleb, Kane, Kendra, Tanner, Randi and Brayden, all of whom inherited Harry’s penchant for debate and unwavering passion for their beliefs. Harry’s joy was truly his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren become parents themselves to his great grandchildren, Izabella, Ayla, Ember, Dax, Hallie and Sadie.

Harry spent his final years back and forth between Whitehorse and Edmonton with his very good friend June. They shared many laughs and a little friendly competition on the golf course, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Harry (Dido) will be greatly missed by those of us left behind. His solicited and unsolicited advice, visits, debate, and support rink side, court side, and in the audience will leave a gap in our lives.

We want to let him know, we appreciate the job he did here, and wish him a safe journey. He leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work.

Many thanks to Dr. Xiu-Mei Zhang, long-time friend and Doctor.

We invite you to join us for a celebration on Saturday April 06th at 1:00 pm at the MacBride Museum, 1124 Front Street. Whitehorse, Y.T.

To Dale, Ron, Vickie, Tammy, and your families. I wish to send my sincerest condolences to you all. Harry was an icon in the community and territory. His honesty, kindness and sarcasm in his discussions were always a joy to be a part of. To all the family that still cheers and participates in sports and the younger generations who will continue to represent the Yukon Territory in the years to come, your greatest supporter will be present in the arena, the gym, and on the golf courses with the proudest smile. Again to the families, a part of Harry and Angie is in all of you, and what more can you ask for.

To the family, our sincere sympathies. Knew Harry from 1968. Played sports with and against him and enjoyed his competitive nature and his unwavering beliefs. Our thoughts will be with the family on April 6th. Bill & Sherron Jones (Vernon B C)

To the entire Kulych klan: I was saddened to read of Harry’s passing. I worked with Harry and got to know the Kulych family very well during the time we lived in Whitehorse. Harry and Angie’s door was always open to anyone who came knocking, and they welcomed us all. The picture posted of Harry was exactly as I remember him – with a smile on his face and a baseball cap on his head. He was a fun and happy individual and always supported his kids in any sports they chose to play. He himself played slow-pitch and it was always a good time when we’d go & watch the oldtimers play. Our thoughts are with all of you during this sad time. Harry and Angie will be remembered fondly by anyone who was lucky enough to know them. We will be with you in spirit on April 6th.
