Jacqueline “Jackie” Bernadette Mewett nee Corbett

Whitehorse, Yukon

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Jacqueline Berndette Mewett nee Corbett on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at Wind River Hospice House.

Jackie was born on March 3rd, 1967, to James Alexander Corbett and Carlotta Ann Corbett nee Williams. Born in Carberry, Manitoba, she called no place home as she was born into a military family, so home was wherever her family was.

Jackie traveled the world throughout her childhood with her parents and sister, living in Germany; Shilo, Manitoba; Petawawa, Ontario; and Shearwater, Nova Scotia, before the family eventually returned to Shilo.

It was there that Jackie met the love of her life, Joe Mewett. Together, they continued a life of service and adventure as she proudly accompanied him throughout the remainder of his military career. Their journey ultimately led them to retirement in Whitehorse, Yukon, a place they lovingly called home.

Jackie and Joe raised 3 children, Natasha Lynn Ann Mewett, Kandis Cerena Mewett and Joseph James Mewett.

Jackie is survived by her husband Joe and children Natasha, Kandis and Joey. Jackie was predeceased by her parents and sister Carlotta (Callie)

Jackie enjoyed spending time at the Whitehorse Legion and Golden Age Society, playing cards and bingo with her many friends.

Special thanks go out to everyone who visited Jackie during her hospital and hospice stay.

The family would also like to say a very special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Whitehorse General Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided.

Jackie was a dedicated supporter and longtime volunteer of the Whitehorse Legion. Having spent her entire life connected to the military community, she deeply understood the vital role the Legion plays in supporting Veterans and their families.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Whitehorse Legion or to a charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, 11 April at the Whitehorse Legion.
