James (Jim) Atwood Hirsche
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that our family announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle JAMES (JIM) ATWOOD HIRSCHE October 3, 1946 – May 13, 2023
Jim was a well-respected resident of Whitehorse for 38 years, where he raised his family. He was a former R.C.M.P. Officer and dedicated Whitehorse Correctional Case Manager of 38 years. Jim passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Sooke, B.C. at the age of 76, under a beautiful blue sky at 8:20 am, May 13, 2023. Jim loved the Yukon and spent half of his life calling Whitehorse home. In 2017 due to health issues, Jim moved to B.C. to get proper care and support. Jim loved fishing, camping, being outside, and he loved the Oilers and Golden State Warriors. Jim and his wife Marina made lifelong friends in the Yukon and right up to his passing Jim longed to be back in the Yukon. His final wish was to be brought home to Whitehorse where he could be laid to rest next to his wife at Grey Mountain Cemetery.
