The family will be hosting a celebration of Jan’s life at the Whitehorse United Church on 6th and Main on Friday, March 1 from 2PM – 4PM. All are welcome. Jan will be interred beside her beloved Cam at a private ceremony at Grey Mountain Cemetery on Thursday, February 29.
I never met Jan in person but we wrote to each other on and off for decades. I too am a member of the Richard III Society and I always heard about the trips that she and Cam took to England, and then the bus tours she continued to take. I liked and admired her a lot. I will miss her and our correspondence. My profound sympathy to her family.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I worked with Jan at the Whitehorse Public Library when I was in junior high and learned so much from her, patience being one. I worked with her again at the front desk of YTG. She was always so kind, polite, sweet and gentle. The word “grace” describes her beauty perfectly and succinctly. Say hi to my Mom, Jan. She’s up there tending to the same garden as you.

Such as a special person. Our relationship began by my driving Jan to and from Friends of the Gallery meetings. Always with a lot to discuss. In the summer Jan would invite my husband , Tony and I to tea. This was always a special occasion- She was a fascinating woman. I miss her. There will always be a piece of me that treasures our time together.
I met Mr. and Mrs. Ogilvy shortly after I moved to Whitehorse in 1994 and learned that they were friends with my grandparents when they all lived on Texada Island, BC. Jan and my grandma, Amelia Crippin, continued to write letters for years until she passed in 2004. I got to know Jan a bit more after Cam passed away and she was so very pleasant to chat with, always left me with a smile on my face and a better outlook for the day ahead. My heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.
She was a lovely person. I always enjoyed speaking with her. She was wonderful at the old library and the main admin building. I know she will be missed.
I cleaned for Jan every second Friday, and was always met with “well hello there” I enjoyed talking with Jan while we waited for Laurel to pick her up for coffee at the Java Connection. She was the most even keeled person I have ever met, polite and always thanked me for coming by. I will miss her very much. Thanks Jan for everything.
My great grandson was having a tantrum in the book store on Main Street. I recognized this lady on this page. She was standing in line waiting to get to the till. While my great grandson continued his tantrum this kind lady came and spoke quietly to me. She said before she took her grand children to town, they sat down together and made a list. At the store, if the item wasn’t on the list, the item wasn’t bought. She apologized thinking I would take issue with it. I thanked her and said I would do that on our next trip to the store. The next time we, my grandson and I went shopping, I sat him down and together we made a list. It WORKED then and still works today!! A wonderful lady with wonderful advice. I thank her for her kind words whenever I take my now 12 year old great grand son to the store. I am very sorry for your loss and may our Lord bless you all for your time with this wonderful lady.
