Josephine (Jo) Murray MacDonald

It is with deep sadness that the family of Josephine (Jo) Murray MacDonald announces that she passed away in Whitehorse, Yukon on July 21, 2016 – on the eve of her 93rd birthday. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Jo was born in Alberta and moved to the Yukon with her husband, Holly, in the early 1950s. She was the driving force behind the family that includes 4 children: Bonnie, Peigi, Sheilagh and Don; 2 sons-in-law: Brian and Frank; her grandchildren: Cuillin, Logan, Keltie, Elizabeth Bonnie Jean, Aonghus, Mhari and Catriona and great grandchild Josie.

The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Porter Creek on Friday July 29th at 2:00 pm and she will be buried by her husband in the Grey Mountain cemetery. The family would like to thank all the supportive friends who cared for our mother in recent years, in particular Dr. Himmelsbach, Jeanette, Helen, Carol, Jeanne and Donna, and wonderful nurses at the Whitehorse General Hospital. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Whitehorse Food Bank.

Our hearts go out to you and the family as you face this most difficult time. What an amazing thing it will be when those asleep like your loved one will be woken up from their sleep and come back to life. This is a hope that keeps us going, because we too, have lost many of our loved ones. As Psalms 37:9-11, 29 promises, soon, we’ll all enjoy life on this earth at a time when there will be no more, pain, sickness, or death.

Auntie Josie – one of the first to sincerely welcome me to this extended family. Bless her heart. Best to all, Maryka Walters Johnson
