Kenneth Elwood Rathwell

August 11, 1933 ~ August 12, 2024

Kenneth Elwood Rathwell

Ken went home to be with his Lord on August 12, 2024 at the age of 91.

He started his life in Ontario, born to Peter and Sarah (Nee Nichol) Rathwell.

He attended tech school there, added to his already attained knowledge from working with family in a variety of trades. However, his first job was in transportation driving truck in The Sault. He would eventually start driving buses in BC and The Yukon. Later in the Yukon he transitioned to maintenance.

69 years ago, he married the love of his life Paulette. They would go on to have 2 girls that they raised in Ontario, BC and then The Yukon.

He loved to share his faith and to pray for others right up until he passed. And at various time he was involved in AWANA or leading Bible Studies.

He also loved his family (and Paulette’s) and they were often galivanting off here and there to see someone, somewhere in Canada. Being hard to track down after retirement, they were finally gifted a cellphone!

He loved to putter in his workshop, doing woodworking of some sort. Or perhaps fixing things, as everyone knew Papa/Uncle Ken could fix anything!!

He is survived by his wife Paulette; daughters Susan (Ron) and Shirley (Brent); grandchildren Andy, Paul and family, Trista (Neil) and family, Nick (Kim) and family, Sarah (Ryland) and Jon (Tasha); sister Barb (Dave), step siblings Sharon, Dave (Linda) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Sarah, his stepmother Margaret, brother Cal, step siblings (John), and Dora (Brian).

A heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Whistle Bend Place for their care and devotion to Dad in his time there.

Ken will be sorely missed by so very many people.

…well done, good and faithful servant… Matt 25:23

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either 100 Huntley Street or the Alzheimer Society of Canada
