Loretta Margaret Lafferty (nee Roberts)

It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend. Loretta passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Whitehorse, Yukon on June 2, 2021 at
the age of 79.

Loretta was born in Calgary, AB, the youngest of four children born to Howard and Alice Roberts. She was raised in the central Alberta area, then went on to start her family in Grande Prairie, AB while working in the service industry. After moving from Alberta to Dawson Creek BC, employment took her family to the Yukon in 1968 where she remained, except for a few brief periods. Loretta’s love of the Yukon always brought her back to a place she called “home”. She would often say “once a Yukoner, always a Yukoner”. Over the years she held several management roles in the Whitehorse area. For a period she cared for some beautiful children in her group home. She also owned and operated Porter’s Place (2000-2011) from where she retired and where many may know her from. She always enjoyed good friends, country music and family. In her spare time Loretta enjoyed gardening, cooking and long walks.

Loretta is survived by her daughters Kim Auston (Ed), Carrie Stevenson, Sherry Sullivan (Mike); her son Robert Stevenson; Grandchildren: Alyshia Auston, Sarah Young (Sean), Cameron Painter (Kyra), Trayton Painter; Great Grandchildren: Auston & Marlowe Young, Barrett & Callie Painter. Brother: Ken Roberts (Fairview, AB); Sister: Doreen Burnham (Spokane, WA). Morley’s children: Beverley Boe, Charlene (Dan St. Amant) and Marvin Boe as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Loretta is predeceased by her parents Alice and Howard Roberts; sister Dot Listhaeghe (Bert); her long time partner Morley Boe; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Loretta will be fondly remembered and missed by many. None more so, than by her children. Mom, you gave us your smile, strength, wittiness, good ethics, values and you will forever be in
our hearts!

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to Food Bank Society of Whitehorse

At this time, we also wish to extend our heartfelt thank you to the management and staff at Whistle Bend Place for the exceptional care they provided during her stay.
