Marlene Sudeyko
It is with great sadness that the Sudeyko family announces the passing of their beloved mother Marlene.
On March 18th, in her 88th year, Marlene passed away peacefully without suffering, in Toronto, at the home of her eldest son Bob. It was Marlene’s wish to accept her passing without any further medical treatment and to enjoy the company of all her immediate family in the final months of her life. She was thankful for the many good wishes she received from her friends during that period.
Marlene made the sacrifice of leaving the Yukon to be with her family in her final years but as a true Yukoner, after cremation, she will return to be interred with her husband Peter Sudeyko at Grey Mountain Cemetery, at an appropriate time.
Marlene was born in England, and she made the journey to Canada as a young girl and ultimately arrived in the Yukon. Alongside her husband Peter, she raised a family and enjoyed lifelong friendships with so many fellow Yukoners. In addition to raising a family she was very active in the community as an avid curler and a member of many organizations such as: Beta Sigma Phi, the Canadian Cancer Society, and Yukon Hospice.
Marlene treated her passing as she had lived her life; with a quiet dignity and gratefulness for what her family and Yukon life had provided. Like many others, she came to the Yukon for a short time but stayed a lifetime. She is remembered fondly by all those who knew her and is deeply loved by her family.
Marlene is survived by her five children and their families – Melon, Bob, Rick, Alan, and Barbara – who will be forever grateful for the love and care she provided.
The Sudeyko family asks that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to Hospice Yukon.

To Marlene’s Family –
Your mother – as you know – was a “one of a kind”! We were so fortunate when she moved into the Thornhill Summit from the Yukon and she was also a fun part of our social life here.
She was a special person to chat with whenever I had the chance…and I always felt happy to see her. She got me interested in Canasta too! She always had a beautiful smile, and was so positive and cheery!
May she Rest in Peace! Gail Voisin Unit #711

Our deepest condolences to Rick and all of the family.
We have very fond memories of the many occasions we spent time with Marlene, whenever she visited Rick in Ottawa. It was always a great pleasure talking to her. One example was our interesting conversations about the Yukon . She was very proud of her life in beautiful Yukon.
We feel fortunate to have known her through Rick during the last 30 years, and we will remember her as a loving, gracious, generous, courageous lady and friend. She was genuinely special,

Mrs. Sudeyko, as she was always called by me, will remain in my heart as a very kind, positive and friendly individual.
She was so supportive of me as a new teacher at F.H. Collins and excited and involved in the school and in what her kids were learning.
She was a genuinely, lovely person who I know instilled kindness and high standards in all of her children. (They were all good students!)
The Yukon is a better place for her life here.
My sincere condolences to all of her family.

What a wonderful friend Marlene was to us both. She made our stay in the Yukon for some thirty (30) years so enjoyable with many happy events. Our deepest condolences to all her children and family. She was a terrific person. May she rest in peace.

I had the priveledge to become acquainted with Mrs. Sudeyko during the years where she was a constant support for her husband, Peter following his stroke. She was a rock, unwavering in her love and commitment, making family the consistent priority. It is a coincidence that Marlene has passed on the same day as my mother, a lady with very similar values also passed away in Saskatoon. Two wonderful ladies who made a positive impact on their communities and all who crossed their paths.

Our deepest condolences to Rick and all the family – so sorry for your loss. I met Mrs Sudeyko briefly when Rick brought her to the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club for the annual Davis Cup tournament a few years ago, soon after she moved from the Yukon to Toronto. I remember her being gracious and a true sport putting up with all of us in costume playing “social tennis”. May she rest in peace knowing she was loved dearly by all her family and friends.

My deepest sympathies to Rick and his family.

Our thoughts are with Marlene’s family and we are saddened for your loss . We first met Peter as he was the Fullerbrush salesman coming to Mayo when we were stationed there in early 70 ‘s . Later Marlene was a friend through Ladies Auxillary to YOOP as well as ladies who lunch after Aquafit. Marlene lived just down the street from us on Lazulite so at times we would drive to events together.
She was such a wonderful lady, so interested in people and the Yukon. We are happy to hear she will be near Peter at Grey Mt. Rest In Peace dear friend.
