I was posted at Fort Norman 1958 to 1960 with Rena and Reub and look back with fond memories of their hospitality and friendship. They were wonderful mentors to a young Constable. Our families were together in Whitehorse and enjoyed a life long friendship of shared experiences. Our sincere condolences on the passing of this wonderful northern pioneer.
Hello Bob & Mary-thank you so much for your lovely tribute to my mom (& dad). They treasured their friendship through the years with you as well.
Debra, Robert and family, so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a lovely lady and we feel fortunate to have known her and your father. Our sincere sympathy to you and your family at this time.
Lyle & Cindy Henderson
Lyle & Cindy-thank for your condolences. I am so glad our families reconnected later in life and that your dad and Joy spent many good times with my mom & dad. They were always pleased to run into the two of you & catch up.
Robert and Debra, so sorry to hear of Rena”s passing. We became friends many years ago in Whitehorse when our kiddies were all small. Hugs. Edie Hiscock.Edie
Dear Edie-thank you so much for being in touch & your condolences. My mom always enjoyed your company and great sense of fun. All the best to you and your “kiddies”.
Well, although it is sad that such a lovely, lovely woman has moved on to be with “her Reub”, I cannot help but smile as I think of “Mrs. Fendrick”. She was always a smiling, good morning face in “the office ” of FH Collins many many years ago. Mrs. Fendrick was a staple in our lives. Her memory will live on in our thoughts. It was a pleasure seeing her around town and I know she always enjoyed seeing me and hearing about, what I was up to.
Thank you Maxine for that lovely tribute to our mom-you always brought a smile to her face!
Sorry to hear of Rena’s passing. Glad we had a chance to visit with her and Reub at a recent Yukoner’s. Had a lot of laughs from years spent with them in Whitehorse.
Thank you Jim & Peggy for your kind remembrances.
Debra and Robert….we are so sorry to hear that Rena has passed away. We first met in Inuvik in 1964 on our transfer to Arctic Red River…so long ago but seems like yesterday with so many good memories in between. She was dearly loved snd will be missed by the many lives she touched.. our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
Jean and Bart Hawkins.
Thank you so much Jean for your kind message. It is heartwarming to hear your memories from years ago.
Dear Debra, Robert & families, We are remembering Rena – a very special lady dedicated to her family and home. Rena & Reub were our neighbours in Riverdale, Wolf Creek and Marsh Lake. Rena & Reub were an inspiration to us in how to live life and raise wonderful children.
Thank you Derek & Anna for thinking of us all at this time – it is very appreciated.
NIck & Trudy-thank you for your really lovely note about our mom (and dad). They were one of a kind, each in their own way and we were very fortunate to be their children! They always enjoyed their get-togethers with you two – all through the years. Thank you for always keeping in touch.

Robert, Debra and families, There really aren’t any words to express how much we will all miss Rena, as we miss Reub. Rena was always such a lady and all of the younger wives looked up to her. Her life was an example to many.
Our thoughts are with you.
Thank you Carole & Ed for your heartfelt condolences and especially your tribute of our mom. It’s very comforting to know how much others thought of our mom too.
Debra, Rick & Alix: Sorry to hear about your loss. Our thoughts are with you.
Thank you Derek & Anna – we all appreciate your condolences.
Debra, thank you so much for replying to my Christmas letter, sent on behalf of my mother Evelyn Morrison, wife of the late Al Morrison. Though Dad never served up north both he and Mom really enjoyed the trip they made to visit your Dad and Mom decades ago. Mom and Rena corresponded until Mom was no longer able to. As others have said, they were pioneers, both of them. And larger than life. I hope someone will write a memoir or biography of one of both of them. I know I would buy and read it! Wishing you peace, joy, happy memories and fulfillment as you grieve the loss of your Mom. Kind regards to Rena’s extended family members.
Thank you Laurie! Your thoughts and condolences are very comforting.
Rena was my mom’s cousin. So sorry for your loss of Rena, she was a bright star, she was so nice to me, I loved getting her Christmas letters. Kind regards to her family; I will miss her greatly. From Shelley Kellam
