Robert Bruce Mason

June 21, 1942 ~ June 6, 2026

Robert Bruce Mason

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the death of our father, Robert Bruce Mason.

Dad was born in Sturgeon Valley, Saskatchewan on June 21st, 1942 and passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of June 6th, 2026 in the Copper Ridge Place care facility.

Dad moved to the Yukon in 1962, shortly after his high school graduation, and worked as a draftsman & building inspector until 1970.  Throughout the early and mid 70’s, he spent every other year in Halifax, where he eventually earned bachelor degrees in Architecture & Environmental Design from Dalhousie University.  He then settled permanently in Whitehorse, where he worked as an Architect and small business owner until his retirement.  During his career, dad designed several prominent buildings in Whitehorse and several other Yukon communities.

Dad was also a long-standing member of the “Yukon Order of Pioneers” (YOOP).

He is survived by his three children: Jill, Cory, and Luke, two step-children, numerous grandchildren and extended family, as well as his siblings: Ronald, Jim, Fay, David, Ken, Brenda, Roy, and Joy.

Dad was pre-deceased by his second wife, Louise, his brothers Arthur and Richard, and his sisters Lois and Jean.

There will be a small private ceremony for close friends and family members.

We would like to also take a moment to thank the wonderful staff at Copper Ridge Place, who worked diligently to ensure he lived out his last few years in comfort and dignity.
