Ruth is survived by her brother Don Cameron (Anne), sister Shirley Fitzsimmons and brother-in-law’s Bill Fitzsimmons and Earl Fitzsimmons and many nieces and nephews.
Raised in PEI Ruth married Ralph in a double wedding were two sisters married two brothers 67 years ago. After the honeymoon Mom and Dad headed to the Yukon. Mom was a homemaker for many years but started working when her children were older. Her first and only job in the Yukon was at the Edgewater Hotel where she worked for over 20 years. Mom loved this job and greeted everyone like they were family.
Although Mom suffered the last 7 years with a rare disease she continued to fight for a normal life. Sadly, when she broke her femur, the disease took hold. She continued to fight hard everyday to be with her husband and children. Family meant everything to Mom and everyone who knew her knew this to be true. Everyone will remember Mom’s kindness, love of life, incredible smile, and in later years her “thumbs up”.
A celebration of life will be held on September 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heath Cathedral located at 406 Steel Street.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Line of Life Yukon – 867-667-6945.
Thank you all for loving our mother, she will truly be missed but we take comfort in knowing that mom will be talking, laughing, dancing and having fun with loved ones.

A truly kind and remarkable lady. She was so courageous in her arduous journey these past 7 years. It was a privilege to know you and call you friend.
May you be at peace Ruth and I hope you’re dancing with the angels.💕

My condolences to you Ralph and your family on your sad loss of your wife and mother/grandmother Ruth. She was a sweetheart, I always enjoyed seeing her and her sister at the stores where I worked on PEI. I was also fortunate to see her a few times in Whitehorse, when I visited my sister who was her neighbor for many years. Rest peacefully Ruth. Sheila Gaudet

So sorry for your loss. Your Mom was an incredible lady. I just loved her to pieces. Her smile was infectious and hugs were heartfelt. By heart breaks, but knowing she is at peace and a beautiful angel among us takes away the some of the sorrow. Rest in peace Ruth. You are a true Yukon icon that will be missed. Hugs and kisses to you Ralph. Xoxo 😘💕

Oh my goodness, it’s hard to believe Ruthie is gone. What an incredibly sweet woman! I got to know her in her days at the Edgewater and again more recently as the great-grandmother of my granddaughter, Maple. I always appreciated Ruth’s sweet disposition and her kind, beautiful smile. Sincere condolences to Ralph, Helen, Ralph, Leah, Cam, Kayla and everyone else who is touched by this great loss.

My condolences to the family. Ruth was a very plucky woman and it saddened us because of her illness to lose her from our line dancing group. That is where I first met her. She claimed she wasn’t very good at it, but she had good rhythm and knew all the steps of every dance that she learned. Always one to befriend anyone, she won the hearts of the line dancers! A very fun person.

Am very sorry to see this news. Ruth was a second mom to many. She was a kind and caring person to all she knew. I thank her and Ralph for the many times they allowed us to spend time at their house when we were teenagers. Thank you.

So Very Sad to read of Ruth’s passing, she was a truly great lady, we had many many laughs over the earlier years bowling, Ruth was the sunshine in any room. My heart goes out to the entire family.

I’m not sure if I ever met Ruth, although at some time in my early childhood I must have, she seems like an amazing woman, Ralph was lucky to have her in his life as my dad was to have my mom, two lucky brothers I guess. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
