Seann Springford

“Ever remembered, ever loved.”

Our hearts are breaking as we announce the passing of Seann Springford. Seann slipped away quietly in his sleep during the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 7, at age 72. Left behind to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 28 years, Wendy, his daughters, Araica (Glenn) McPhee of Whitehorse and Aureuil Springford of Nanaimo, BC, son-in-law Phil Valerio, Seann’s former wife, Gabriole Springford, his three grandchildren Micah, Samaya and Aubrey, numerous friends and those he chose to call family who knows how much he loved them all.

Over the years Seann lived and worked from coast to coast but he called Yukon his home, moving permanently to Whitehorse in the Spring of 1995 with his wife Wendy. He had many different jobs and found his calling working as a Financial Advisor with Investor’s Group for nearly 23 years until he retired in the spring of 2014.  He always said that he never really worked, he just had fun visiting with his clients and helping them achieve their goals and dreams.

Seann was an avid volunteer for many organizations and enjoyed being deeply involved with his community. In past years, he was also an active participant in various dog training, agility groups and Kennel Club events.

He loved driving and exploring, meeting new people and enjoying the beautiful scenery wherever he travelled. He loved chatting with everyone he met, whether it was on the street, in a business, or at his favourite coffee spots.  He always took time to listen, give an encouraging smile, and often went out of his way to help the people he loved or total strangers. He actively looked for the good in every person, no matter who they were.

If you want to honour his memory, help your friends and neighbours, pay it forward whenever you can, be yourself with no regrets and make friends with strangers.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favourite charity if you wish.  As per Seann’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A Life Celebration is being planned; location and date to be determined.

Words cannot express how much Seann meant to me and my daughters. For almost 10 years he has been a part of our lives, an unexpected Knight in Shining Armour. He came to us when we needed him most, we adopted him, and he adopted us. Saying good-bye is impossible.

Seann gave without expectation of anything in return, with no hesitation and no judgment. He was everything from driving instructor, handyman, sparring partner, mentor, confidante, and so much more.

He has been gone a week today, it has taken me this long to even begin to put into words how much he will be missed. He would be glad to know that he got this little family through a tough time and prepared us well for the road ahead. We will use what we learned from him and remember him with love, the pain will soon subside, but the memories will last forever.

So Long Seann, We Love You!
