Stephen Earl Colp

It is with great sadness that Stephen’s family announce his unexpected passing at the Whitehorse Hospital on December 14, 2018, with his sister and brother at his side.

He is predeceased by his dad Earl in 2012 and is survived by his loving mom Jean of Nanaimo, BC; sister Nancy of Nanaimo, and son Kevin of Victoria, BC; daughter Allyson of Calgary, AB; brother Allan (Shelley) and children Natasha and Jordan, all of Fort St. James, BC.

Steve was born and raised in Nanaimo, B.C., and attended BCIT. His career as a Resource/Mining Inspector included 10 years with the Federal Government in Yellowknife and the last 25 years with Energy Mines and Resources of the Yukon Government as a Senior Inspector. He travelled extensively throughout the territories which included trips to the North Pole and Ellsmere Island. He retired in 2018 and was looking forward to visiting family and friends across Canada but planned to continue calling the Yukon home.

Steve had a passion for the outdoors especially hunting and fishing with family and friends. He had cherished memories of special trips with his dad and brother and most recently with his cousin Paul. He loved just taking off in his truck and camper to be with nature. He was talented with all things construction, mechanical and electrical and even played the saxophone in his high school Dixieland Band. He will be forever remembered for his keen sense of humour and caring nature.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ross Phillips and the hospital Medical Unit nursing staff for the compassionate care shown and provided to Steve during this

difficult time. Thank you to his close friends and colleagues for supporting Steve and for their kindness expressed at his passing.
