Theodore “Ted” Bernard Lambert
Theodore Bernard Lambert (Ted Sr.) passed away on August 15, 2026, in Teslin, Yukon. Ted lived life to its fullest and was determined to leave this world on his own terms when the time was right. He was a fierce advocate for those facing hardship and instilled in his family the importance of helping others in need. More than a father, he was a friend, a confidant, and a kind, gentle soul whose presence touched countless lives.
Ted was a lover of music, art, and exploration. His travels took him to nearly every continent, and his curiosity about the world became part of the fabric of his home in Teslin, where the walls were adorned with reminders of his many adventures and experiences.
He loved his family and friends deeply, often considering his friends to be family. Ted was profoundly connected to Teslin and its people. Even as his health declined, he remained steadfast in his daily ritual of enjoying coffee on his deck, overlooking the beauty of Teslin Lake and the surrounding wilderness. It was there, on a beautiful August day beneath clear blue skies and carried by a warm mountain breeze, that Ted peacefully left us.
Ted was a cherished grandfather to Isabelle, Cameron, and Kip. He treasured the time he spent with them and took great pride in sharing the values, stories, and life to lessons that meant so much to him. He was a beloved father to Ted Jr. (predeceased), Christine (Ross), and Nathan (Amanda), and a lifelong friend to his former wife, Bona, with whom he remained exceptionally close until his passing. He is also survived by his five sisters, Rita, Jeanne, Ellen, Suzie and Yolande, whom he loved tremendously. His absence leaves an enduring mark on all who knew and loved him.
A Farewell Tea will be held for Ted on September 5 at 2:00 pm at the TTC Longhouse for the local Teslin community with whom Ted shared his daily life. A larger Celebration of Life for friends, family, and all who wish to honour Ted’s memory will be held in Whitehorse later this fall. Its time and location will be posted in the paper and online closer to the date.
Ted committed to a long-standing tradition of making charitable donations on behalf of his family members instead of giving gifts. He believed that by sharing with those less fortunate, we become more compassionate and generous people ourselves.
