Wayne Robert Salé
It is with great sadness that after a long battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Wayne R. Salé.
Wayne was born and raised in Athabasca, Alberta. In 1980 Wayne moved to the Yukon with his wife, Sheila. Wayne lived in Faro, Carmacks and Carcross before deciding to settle at the Carcross Corner in 1983. This is where he started Salé Salvage, which he ran for almost 40 years, building it into the largest and most successful salvage and recycling company in the Yukon.
Wayne loved to be outdoors with his family and friends. In his early years he spent many summer weekends on Marsh Lake and Tagish Lake on his boat, and winter weekends snowmobiling in the mountains near Carcross. In his later years he enjoyed travelling to warmer climates.
He leaves behind his wife and the love of his life, Sheila Salé; daughters, Angela Salé-Roche (Eric), Heather O’Brien (Matthew) and Ashley Salé; grandchildren, Nick (Kim), Megan, David, Gracie, Michael, Rebecca, and Enzo; as well as his great-grandchildren Adalynn, Daniel, and Natalie.
Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 406 Steele St., in Whitehorse on Friday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. with reception to follow from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gold Rush Inn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Yukon or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Our sympathy goes out to Sheila and family. It has been many years since we left Yukon but have always spoken of you and Wayne and how much you enjoyed going to Puerto Vallarta as we did. This is a sad moment that will never pass as the memories are there forever. RIP in peace Wayne.
